What Is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic Care FAQs
Is Chiropractic Care Safe?
Yes. When performed by a regulated chiropractor, treatments are safe, gentle, and tailored to your comfort and needs.
Do I Need a Referral to See a Chiropractor?
No referral is required. You can book directly.
Will Chiropractic Adjustments Hurt?
Chiropractic care is generally very comfortable. While adjustments are one tool that may be used, your appointment often includes a combination of hands-on treatment, soft tissue work, movement-based care, and exercise or mobility guidance.
Some patients experience mild soreness afterward – similar to how you might feel after a workout – as the body adapts to new movement or load. This is typically short-lived and part of the normal recovery process.
Your chiropractor will always tailor treatment to your comfort level and explain what they’re doing along the way.
Are Spine/Back Adjustments All That Your Chiropractors Do?
No. While spinal and joint adjustments are a well-known part of chiropractic care, they are only one tool within a much broader scope of practice.
At our clinic, chiropractic care takes a whole-body, systems-based approach to health and recovery – similar to physiotherapy and manual therapy. Appointments may include a combination of hands-on treatment, soft tissue work, movement assessment, exercise and mobility prescription, and education around load management, posture, and daily habits. Our chiropractors also integrate modalities such as dry needling, shockwave therapy, and rehabilitation exercises when appropriate.
Can Chiropractic Care Help with Sports Injuries?
Absolutely. Chiropractors often treat sprains, strains, joint restrictions, and movement-related injuries.
How Many Sessions Will I Need and How Long Are The Sessions?
Your chiropractor will recommend a treatment plan based on your assessment, condition, and goals. The number of sessions and appointment length will vary depending on whether you’re addressing a new injury, a flare-up, or ongoing care.
After your initial assessment, chiropractic appointments are available in 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions, allowing time for hands-on treatment and movement or exercise prescription as needed.
We also offer 20-minute appointments, but these are reserved for follow-up care only and must be recommended by your chiropractor. If you’re experiencing a new injury or new issue, please book a 45-minute appointment to allow adequate time for reassessment and treatment.
Our aim is to match the appointment length to your needs so care stays efficient, thorough, and individualized.
